We understand the unique challenges women face in retirement, including the stress of spending down your savings. Let's build a plan that addresses your concerns.

Nobody Ever Walks In Feeling Like They Have Enough

In 25 years, nobody has ever sat down at our table feeling like they had enough. Not at any number. Eric opens his book with two meetings from his first years in this business: a man with over four million dollars who couldn’t bring himself to retire, and a school custodian with a pension who had his retirement scheduled down to the actual date and never worried about it once. The custodian had dependable income and a settled plan. The other man had a big pile and a guess.

Think about how your money worked while you were working. The paycheck covered the bills. The savings account covered surprises. The 401(k) grew because you never had to touch it, even in 2008. Retirement takes the paycheck away and hands you one big pile instead, and suddenly the groceries, the roof, and the trip to see the grandkids all come out of the same anxious pot. No wonder careful people freeze up.

We rebuild the old setup. Steady monthly income to cover the bills. Cash on hand for surprises. Investments managed for growth and then left alone to grow, since your grocery mon

Your Retirement Goals & Vision

Travel, family time, hobbies, giving.

Everyone tells us what they want someday. Almost nobody has put numbers on it, so we do that together. When a trip has a real price and its own account that fills up a little every month, it stops being a someday thing and starts being a plan. Our clients take the trips.

Your Retirement Concerns

Most planners try to reassure you. We’d rather write your worries down and put a price on each one: the bad health year, a long illness, what the month would look like for whichever of you is someday managing alone. A worry with a price and money set aside for it loses most of its grip. One that stays vague keeps canceling trips.

Your Retirement Risks & Liability

Markets drop. Taxes and insurance climb. Inflation grinds away at everything. We plan for those risks where they land: in your monthly budget. When the essential bills are covered by income that shows up regardless, a bad market year is a bad year for your statements. It doesn’t have to be a bad year for your life.

WITH YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR RETIREMENT

Serving Retirees Over 20 Years

WITH YOU THROUGHOUT YOUR RETIREMENT — Serving Retirees for 25 Years We’re usually not the first firm our clients have tried. A lot of people find us after their old advisor stopped calling. Here, your plan gets a real review at least once a year: we go back over what your life costs, fund the coming year’s plans, rebalance the investments, and take care of that year’s tax moves. In between, there are client events every month, and when you call the office a person picks up the phone. Our clients tell us that alone was worth switching for.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have account minimums?

We are proud to say that we have never required account minimums to work with us. We serve retirees at all income and asset amounts.

How do you charge?

The plan is free. We build your full retirement strategy at no cost, and if you decide not to move forward, there’s no fee and no hard feelings. If you do become a client, we’re paid in one or both of two ways: an annual 1% management fee on the investments we manage for you, and/or a one-time commission from the insurance company if your plan uses a product like an annuity. We’ll walk you through exactly how we get paid before you sign anything.

Do I give my money to you?

No, your funds will never be held by, or given to, Stratton & Company. Your funds are always held in your own accounts at the major financial companies that drive your plan, including but not limited to Schwab, Jackson National, Sammons Financial, etc.

Why should I work with an investment professional?

It’s less about picking investments than most people expect. The real job is making everything work together: your income, your investments, your taxes, and your spouse’s situation if something ever happens to you. It’s also keeping the plan simple enough that you can still run it comfortably at 87. That part gets overlooked a lot.
